1. Who We Are
MessageHome is a messaging and message-organization app. The developer name shown on Google Play and in the app store listing should match the developer name used for MessageHome.
For privacy questions or data requests, contact us through the support or privacy contact listed in the MessageHome app or on the official Google Play listing. Before publication, this page should include an active privacy contact email or request form controlled by the developer.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to MessageHome, including the Android app, website, support pages, and related services. It should be read together with any in-app disclosures and permission prompts shown before sensitive data is accessed.
3. Information We May Access or Collect
We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve MessageHome. Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, the app may access or process the categories below.
SMS and MMS data. If MessageHome is actively selected as your device's default SMS app, it may access SMS and MMS message content, sender and recipient phone numbers, timestamps, delivery status, attachments, and conversation history to send, receive, display, organize, search, back up locally, and manage your messages.
Contacts. With your permission, MessageHome may access contact names, phone numbers, and related contact metadata so it can show conversation names, help you select recipients, prioritize frequent contacts, and improve message organization.
Device and app information. We may collect device model, operating system version, app version, language, region, network type, IP address, device settings, performance data, crash logs, and diagnostic information.
Usage information. We may collect app interaction events, feature usage, session information, notification interactions, and settings choices to operate the service, fix problems, prevent abuse, and understand product performance.
Notifications. With your permission, MessageHome may send notifications for incoming messages, reminders, service updates, and message-related alerts. You can change notification permissions in your device settings.
Optional location or media access. If MessageHome offers features such as sharing your current location, attaching images, or sending files, those permissions are requested only when needed for the feature you choose to use.
Account and support information. If MessageHome offers account features or support channels, we may collect account identifiers, email address, support messages, request details, and information you voluntarily provide.
4. SMS Permission and Default SMS App Status
SMS and MMS data is personal and sensitive information. MessageHome requests SMS-related permissions only when they are necessary for core messaging functionality and only where permitted by Google Play policies and Android platform rules.
If MessageHome requires permissions such as READ_SMS, SEND_SMS, WRITE_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS, RECEIVE_MMS, or RECEIVE_WAP_PUSH, the app must be actively registered as your default SMS handler before requesting or using those permissions. If MessageHome is no longer your default SMS app, it should stop using SMS permissions that depend on default handler status.
We do not use SMS, MMS, contacts, or call-log-derived data for advertising, marketing, resale, profiling unrelated to core messaging features, or improving products outside MessageHome.
5. How We Use Information
We use information to provide and operate MessageHome, including sending and receiving messages, displaying conversations, organizing the inbox, enabling reminders and follow-ups, showing contact names, syncing user-selected settings, providing support, troubleshooting bugs, measuring reliability, protecting users, preventing abuse, complying with legal obligations, and enforcing our terms.
6. Local Storage and Message Content
Message content, conversation history, and contact information are primarily stored on your device and handled by Android system storage and MessageHome app storage. We do not sell your message content or contacts.
If a cloud backup, account sync, transfer, or restore feature is offered, MessageHome will disclose the feature in the app and process the selected data only to provide that user-requested feature.
7. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate, analyze, secure, advertise, or support MessageHome. These providers may process data according to their own privacy policies and our instructions where applicable.
Third-party services may include app hosting, crash reporting, analytics, fraud prevention, customer support, Google Play services, Firebase, Google AdMob, Google Ads, or similar SDKs used in the app. The exact services used should match the SDKs integrated in the released app and the Google Play Data safety section.
We may also disclose information when you direct us to do so, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, during a business transfer, or with your consent.
8. Advertising and Analytics
MessageHome may show ads or use analytics if disclosed in the app and Google Play listing. Advertising and analytics providers may process limited device identifiers, advertising identifiers where permitted, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, app interactions, crash data, and performance data.
SMS content, MMS content, contacts, and data derived from SMS or call log permissions must not be used for advertising personalization, ad targeting, marketing, sale, or any purpose outside approved core messaging functionality.
9. Permissions
Depending on your device, Android version, and enabled features, MessageHome may request permissions for SMS/MMS, contacts, notifications, internet access, network state, wake lock, storage or media access, camera, location, alarms, and phone state. Permissions are requested only when needed for the relevant feature or where required by Android.
You can change or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features may stop working if required permissions are denied or if MessageHome is not selected as the default SMS app.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Locally stored messages, contacts, app settings, and cached data remain on your device unless you delete them, clear app data, change Android backup settings, or uninstall the app. Some data may remain in Android system backups, carrier systems, recipient devices, or third-party services outside our control.
Server-side information, if any, is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to provide MessageHome, maintain security, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and support business records. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it.
If MessageHome allows account creation, users must be provided with an in-app and external method to request account deletion. When an account is deleted, associated account data should be deleted unless retention is required for legitimate reasons such as security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal and sensitive user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Choices and Rights
You can control many privacy settings through Android permissions, notification settings, default app settings, in-app preferences, and account settings where available.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal information. You may also have rights to opt out of certain advertising or analytics processing.
13. International Users
MessageHome may be operated from, or use service providers located in, countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms to protect personal information transferred internationally.
14. Children's Privacy
MessageHome is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
15. California, EEA, UK, Brazil, and Other Regional Rights
Residents of certain regions may have additional privacy rights under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, UK GDPR, LGPD, or similar laws. Where these laws apply, you may request access, deletion, correction, portability, restriction, objection, or information about sharing and processing.
16. Links to Other Services
MessageHome may contain links to third-party websites, ads, app stores, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Review their privacy policies before providing information to them.
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice through the app, website, store listing, or other appropriate means and update the effective date above.
18. Contact
For privacy questions, rights requests, account deletion requests, or concerns about MessageHome data practices, contact the support or privacy channel listed in the MessageHome app or official Google Play listing.
